CURLING e-ARENA 2026 in Yokohama
About
CURLING e-ARENA 2026 in Yokohama is a CURLING e-ARENA event with AI-vs-AI matches and on-site human-vs-AI and human-vs-human matches.
Event structure
The event has two divisions. Both are played on the CURLING e-ARENA match system: the official match server with its built-in physics simulator.
- AI division: AIs built by participants play each other. The organizers run the matches in advance, and the finals are shown on screen at the venue. Participants do not need to run their AI on the day
- Human matches: human-vs-AI and human-vs-human matches held at the venue. Sign-up details and format will be announced
How the AI division works
Each participant brings an AI program (a client). During a match the client receives the state of the sheet from the official match server (stone positions, remaining shots, score, remaining thinking time) and returns the next shot: direction, weight and rotation. The server computes the result on the physics simulator and moves on to the next turn.
- Format: to be announced (typically a qualifying round followed by knockout finals)
- Thinking time: a time budget per match. Details will be published in the regulations
- Simulator: the physics simulator built into the official server. Random noise is applied to every shot
- Eligibility: individuals and teams are both welcome. Any programming language may be used (the official client library is Python)
Human matches
At the venue, people play against an AI or against each other on the match system. Team size, whether to sign up in advance or on the day, and the match rules will be published here and on the How to participate page once decided.
